Volunteer vacancies

The Gifted charity has been supporting young people to unlock their potential, build confidence and skills, and raise their aspirations using interactive workshops, technology and podcasting since 2013.

We focus on children and young people who are affected by disadvantage. Our projects and approach help children and young people develop key skills that they will need for the future.

Project Leader/session worker

Role responsibility: 
 
Is to support project leaders and session workers in the delivery of projects that raise the aspirations of children and young people, improving their communication skills, building

confidence and resilience.

Key tasks:
  • To deliver The Gifted’s projects in a range of settings using the session plans provided by The Gifted
  • To build positive relationships with children, young people and /or adults in groups and on an individual basis
  • To be sympathetic with issues that affect young people, particularly health issues including drug and alcohol use, sexual health issues and mental health issues
  • To complete all agreed monitoring, evaluation and reporting with support from the Line Manager and volunteer coordinator.
  • To work with colleagues to recruit participants to take part in the projects delivered by The Gifted
  • To ensure you are familiar with our session plans and use the resources (provided by The Gifted) necessary to deliver our programmes.
  • Attend supervision with the volunteer coordinator to assess progress
  • Follow Safeguarding procedures in line with The Gifted Polic

Assistant Charity Fundraiser

Role responsibility: 

To support the programme’s director in achieving its annual fundraising target by
securing new and maintaining existing small and corporate business funding.
The volunteer will work closely with the programmes director and operations manager. 

Key tasks:
Fundraising

  • Create and maintain a database of small businesses and corporate foundations
  • Securing new funding
  • Contact and build relationships with small businesses and corporate
    foundations with the aim of obtaining financial funding and non-financial
    commitments (e.g mentoring) from them
  • Ensure that all approaches are researched, developed and presented to
    the highest standard to ensure the maximum possibility of obtaining
    funding/ non-financial commitments.
  • Ensure that all approaches are followed up and documented with next steps
  • Ensure relationships are maintained with funders and potential funders

Communications 

  • Ensure that all fundraising queries are responded to quickly
  • Build effective relationships with key funders
  • Present the organisation and its work clearly and effectively to all funders
  • Support the creation of engaging marketing material.

Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external
    stakeholders representing and promoting the Gifted in a positive and professional
    way
  • Identifying and following up partnership opportunities.

Teacher webinar

Marketing and Administrative Assistant

Role responsibility: 

This role helps our charity to identify and increase their target online presence, develop
marketing campaigns, marketing events and develop their marketing strategies
The volunteers will work closely with the operations manager. 

Key tasks:
Marketing
  • Produce and circulate mail chimp newsletters (twice a month)
  • Report on web traffic, social media reach and engagement
  • Support with project administration and marketing
  • Upload events and content online
  • Respond to project sign ups and project enquiries
  • Upload content on Eventbrite
  • Schedule Twitter, Instagram and Facebook Posts
  • Update database and sign-up subscriptions
  • Work with Marketing Coordinator to implement marketing plan
  • Respond to online and social media enquiries

Website and Data Management

  • Maintain website (uploading blogs and project information)
  • Building and managing a GDPR compliant database or client management system
  • Supporting Operations Manager with IT administration (Google Super-Admin User).
  • Ensuring all personal data is held securely (data protection).
  • Ad hoc research to compile lists of schools/organisations, contact details (CRM/
    GDPR).
  • Overseeing Chatbox function on website

Tackling self-harm, suicide and sexual violence

 

1-to-1 Youth Mentor

Role responsibility: 

The volunteer will give one to one mentoring support for young people identified
by referral partners; providing a safe and supportive listening space to help them
to build positive relationships and make better life choices, with the aim of
improving their resilience, confidence and general mental health and wellbeing.

Key tasks:

  • To engage children and young people by making initial contact, arranging
    and facilitating subsequent support sessions at a mutually agreed time
    and venue.
  • To establish a positive and interactive relationship with each young
    person.
  • To plan and organise outcome focussed activities (The Gifted Projects) to
    engage young people during sessions, underpinned by methods to
    overcome individual social, educational and emotional barriers and to
    create personal development plans for the future.
  • To be sympathetic with issues that affect young people, particularly health
    issues including drug and alcohol use, sexual health issues and mental
    health issues.
  • To complete all agreed monitoring, evaluation and reporting with support
    from the Line Manager and volunteer coordinator.
  • Attend supervision with the volunteer coordinator to assess progress.
  • Follow Safeguarding procedures in line with The Gifted Policy.

Finance – Bookkeeper Assistant

Role responsibility: 

This role helps our charity develop and maintain robust and sustainable financial
management systems.

Key tasks:

Monthly and quarterly reporting.

Budget and forecast monitoring.

Paying our suppliers accurately and on time.

Raising invoices when due.

Cash flow monitoring.

Entering transactions on our accounting spreadsheets, processing staff expenses, dealing with petty cash etc.

Routine administrative tasks.
