Free things for teenagers to do in half-term

This week The Gifted has been supporting ‘Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week’, developed by Places to Be. The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Let’s Connect’. We wanted to continue the theme to encourage teenagers to connect with friends in half-term for free!

Here are some fun things you can do together for free in and around London, Hertfordshire and Essex.

Visit London’s Roman Amphitheatre

Located inside Guildhall Art Gallery, the capital’s only Roman amphitheatre was discovered in 1988 by Museum of London archaeologists. Entry to the Amphitheatre is free and included in Guildhall Art Gallery’s general admission ticket.

Visit The Science Museum

The home of human ingenuity, with award-winning exhibitions, iconic objects and stories of incredible scientific achievement. General Admission tickets to the Science museum is free, exhibitions can be visited at an extra cost.

Visit The Design Museum

Design is a continually evolving subject. The Design Museum offers opportunities to explore the present and future of design through a programme of temporary exhibitions and displays. Advance booking is only needed for paid exhibitions.

Take a bike ride in River Lee Country Park

River Lee Country Park stretches between Waltham Abbey in Essex and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire this 1,000-acre park has a huge variety of activities to enjoy!

Take a bike ride in Hainault Forest Country Park

Hainault Forest is a large park with woodlands and a variety of activities to take part in.

Egyptology Days at Lowewood Museum

It’s almost 100 years since the tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered, The Mummy of the Pharaoh and other treasures from over 3,000 years ago were finally found. Visit the museum and celebrate the amazing culture of ancient Egypt.

Visit Parndon Wood Nature Reserve for Safari Week

Throughout the week of February Half Term Parndon Wood Nature Reserve will have various safari-themed activities all week! Entry and participation in all activities will be completely free of charge!
